The Management Role in EmpowerID is the bundle of technical roles, entitlements, and permissions to complete everyday job duties. Management Roles are needed in modern organizations as not all access needed is neither job-based nor necessarily assigned directly to Business Roles.
For example, a cross-functional team working on initiatives or projects may need “activity-based” functional roles.
Management Roles not only provide activity-based roles but also can be used for cross-department collaborations and project teams. In a nutshell, the Management Role is more flexible than the Business Role as it is less tied to a person’s job description.
Each Management Role is a child of a Management Role Definition. Management Role Definitions provide a baseline of access that you can use as a starting point for defining the access to resources given to a Management Role. When creating Management Roles from an existing parent definition, each role inherits the Access Level assignments of the parent. Roles can then be scoped with additional assignments as needed.
