In order to manage resources, those resources must belong somewhere. In EmpowerID, this "somewhere" is an object known as an "EmpowerID Location" or "Location." These locations are user-defined logical representations of the an enterprise's organizational and geographical structure of an enterprise that you can map to actual resource locations in the enterprise's external directories or simply use them as containers for delegation purposes.

On the navbar, expand Role Management and select Business Roles and Locations.

Select the Actions tab on the Business Roles and Locations

page and click Create Location.
This opens the Location Details form for the new location.In the General Tab of the Location Details form, enter the following information:
Name – Name of the location
Display Name – Display name of the location
Description – Description of the location
Locale Key (Unique Name) – Optionally, specify a locale key for the location
Locale Key for Description – Optionally, specify a locale key for the description
Is Assignable – Select to allow resources to be assigned to the location
Show in Location Tree – Select this option if you want the location to appear to users in location trees
Block Inheritance – Select this option if you do not want the location to inherit permissions granted to any parent locations

Parent Location – To select a location other than the default EmpowerID System location, click the delete button to the left of EmpowerID System and then search for and select the desired parent location
Location Type – Select the appropriate type for the location.
Usage Type – Select the usage type for the location
Address – Select the address for the location
Optionally click the Extension tab and add extension attributes as needed.
Click Save to create the Location.

If you are creating a location for an external organization such as a partner, select Organization - Security Container as the type. This lets you apply Visibility Restriction policies against the location that limit the ability of people in the organization to see resources that do not belong to the location. |
