If you are creating an EmpowerID Location to manage resources in an external directory, be sure to map the location to that external location; otherwise, changes made to any objects in the new location are not reflected in the external location.

Create a location

  1. On the navbar, expand Role Management and select Business Roles and Locations.

  2. O On the Business Roles and Locations page, select the Actions tab and then click Create Location.

    This opens the Location Details form for the new location.

  3. In the General Tab of the Location Details form, enter the following information:

    • Name – Name of the location

    • Display Name – Display name of the location

    • Description – Description of the location

    • Locale Key (Unique Name) – Optionally, specify a locale key for the location

    • Locale Key for Description – Optionally, specify a locale key for the description

    • Is Assignable – Select to allow resources to be assigned to the location

    • Show in Location Tree – Select this option if you want the location to appear to users in location trees

    • Block Inheritance – Select this option if you do not want the location to inherit permissions granted to any parent locations

    • Do Not Allow Delete – Select this option to prohibit the deleting the location from the EmpowerID user interface

    • Parent Location – To select a location other than the default EmpowerID System location, click the delete button to the left of EmpowerID System and then search for and select the desired parent location

    • Location Type – Select the appropriate type for the location.

    • Usage Type – Select the usage type for the location

    • Address – Select the address for the location

  4. Optionally click the Extension tab and add extension attributes as needed.

  5. Click Save to create the Location.
