The SharePoint Online (SPO) connector contains multiple Azure services including microservices, web jobs and Azure functions used for inventorying and managing SharePoint Online in EmpowerID. The SPO connector is an enterprise-scale, high-security product that can be run on premise or as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) run by EmpowerID as Web and Application Server containers both in the cloud or on premise. Key to the connector is the the SPO microservice, which you deploy to each SharePoint tenant you want to manage in EmpowerID. If you are taking advantage of EmpowerID SaaS, you simply deploy the microservice to your SharePoint tenants as described in the below topics. Organizations self-hosting EmpowerID need to perform additional steps beyond deploying the microservice to enable EmpowerID to inventory SharePoint online.
