Granting Access to Relative Resources

Home / Identity Administration Access Assignments / Current: Granting Access to Relative Resources

You can grant people access to any of the resources in their locations, including the resources in any child locations, through the use of Relative Access Level assignments. This topic demonstrates how.

For a complete list of Relative Access Levels and the access they grant, see Person Relative Access Levels.

To grant access to relative resources

  1. In the Navigation Sidebar, expand Identities and click Manage Delegations.

  2. Select the Actor Delegations tab.

  3. Select Person from the To which type of actor do you wish to assign access? drop-down, type the name of the person to whom you are delegating access in the Which person needs access? field and then click the tile for that person.

  4. Select Relative from the Assignment Type drop-down.

  5. Click the Add Access Assignments (plus) button located in the grid header.

  6. In the Select the resource(s) to grant access to dialog that appears, do the following:

    1. From the Resource Type drop-down, select the resource type for the resource you are giving the person. For example, if you are giving the person access to a security group, you select Group (Security).

    2. From the Relative Resource drop-down, select the scope of the specific relative resources to which you are giving the person access. For example, if you want to scope the access assignment to those in the person's location (and below), you select >Resource Types< in person's locations where Resource Types are the specific resource types, such as security groups or Exchange mailboxes.
    3. Select the specific access you want to give the person from the Access Level drop-down. For example, if you want to give the person the ability to control group membership for all groups within the assignment scope, you select Access Manager.
    4. Optionally, if you want to limit the access to a specified period of time, tick Time Constraint and select the appropriate dates from the Access Begins and Access Ends fields. Please note that clicking these fields opens a Calendar control for selecting the dates.

    5. Click Save to add the assignment to the shopping cart.

  7. Repeat for each type of access assignment you want to make for the person.
  8. When you have finished adding access assignments, click the Shopping Cart at the top of the page, type a reason for the assignment and then click Submit

Once the workflow processes the request, if no approval is needed, you should see the assignment(s) in the grid.
