License bundles are the assignable policy object that you create and add to a license pool in order to grant to users with those bundles a particular subscription in Azure. Once you create a license bundle, eligible users can request a license in the IT Shop.

To add license bundles to license pools you need to have the License Admin for All Pools and Bundles Management Role.

How to add license bundles to license pools

  1. On the navbar, click Azure License Manager to expand it and then click Manage Assignments.

  2. Select the License Pools tab and search for the pool to which you want to add a license bundle.

  3. Click the License Pool link for the target pool.

  4. Click the License Bundles accordion to expand it and then click the Add New button.

  5. Fill in the fields on the License Bundle form that appears.

    • Name — Enter a logical name for the license bundle.

    • Display Name — Enter the name for the license bundle that users see when searching for it in the UI.

    • Tenant Subscriptions — Enter the name of the license subscription that you want to manage with the bundle and then click the tile for that subscription to select it.

    • Allocated Licenses — Enter the number of licenses allocated for the tenant subscription.

    • Enabled — Check to enable the license bundle.

    • Creation Location — Click the Select a Location link and then search for and select the location.

    • Description — Enter a description for the license bundle.

    • Auto Approve Revokes — Check to enable the system to automatically approve all bundle revocations up to the number specified in the Revoke Threshold Limit field. If not checked, then bundle revokes are sent to the license bundle owner for approval before processing.

    • Revoke Threshold Limit — Specify the number of users who can be automatically removed from the license bundle by the system. Revocations above that number are sent to the license bundle owner for approval before processing.

    • Grant Threshold Limit — Specify the number of users who can be automatically added to the license bundle by the system. Grants above that number are sent to the license bundle owner for approval before processing.

  6. When ready, click Save to create the license bundle and add it to the license pool.

You should see the new bundle in the License Bundles accordion.

  7. Repeat, adding as many license bundles as needed to the license pool.

Now that you have added license bundles(s) to a license pool, you can configure those bundles as needed, such as creating policies that automatically determine who can and who cannot be added to the policy as an eligible assignee.
