In EmpowerID, Management Role Definitions are collections of "operational capabilities" and native system rights. They are packaged as job-based bundles that you can use as templates when creating Management Roles. Management Role Definitions do not grant people the ability to do anything in EmpowerID, and you cannot assign them to anyone. Instead, Management Role Definitions provide a baseline of functions you can further define in child Management Roles. EmpowerID provides a number of Management Role Definitions out of the box; however, you can create new ones as needed.

Create a Management Role Definition

  1. On the navbar, expand Role Management and click Management Roles.

  2. From the Actions pane, click the Create Management Role Definition action.

  3. Enter the following information in the Management Role Definition Details form:

    • Name – Name of the Management Role Definition

    • Display Name – Display name of the Management Role Definition; Display names appear to users in the UI

    • High Security – Select this option if the Management Role Definition grants high security access

    • Description – Description of the Management Role Definition

    • Instructions – Optional instructions

    • Creation Location – Click Select a Location and then search for and select the EmpowerID Location to which you want to create the definition and then click Save.

  4. Back in the main form, click Save.

After the Management Role Definition is created, Assign Access Levels to it to give a functional base of delegations to any child Management Roles you create from it.
