The SharePoint Online (SPO) connector integrates various Azure services, including microservices, web jobs, and Azure functions, to support the inventory and management of SharePoint Online within EmpowerID. This connector is designed for enterprise-scale environments and can be deployed either on-premises or as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution managed by EmpowerID. It can run as Web and Application Server containers in both cloud and on-premises environments.

A key component of the connector is the SPO microservice, which must be deployed to each SharePoint tenant you wish to manage in EmpowerID. For those using EmpowerID SaaS, deploying the microservice to your SharePoint tenants is straightforward and is covered in the topics below. Organizations that are self-hosting EmpowerID will need to complete additional configuration steps beyond deploying the microservice to enable EmpowerID to inventory SharePoint Online. These additional steps are detailed in theĀ Configuration of SharePoint Online Inventory topic.
