License pools are containers for license bundles that you can create to match the logical structure of your organization. They allow you to allocate the number of licenses available for each business unit within your company and provide reporting tools to give you intelligent and actionable data about your licensing costs. Among other things, this data can be used to distribute licenses where needed, reduce the number of licenses per unit and pass license costs to the business units responsible for them.
You need to have either the License Admin for All Pools and Bundles Management Role or a combination of the Management Roles specified in the Azure Licensing Manager Management Roles topic to create a license pool.
How to create license pools
On the navbar, expand Azure License Manager select Manage Assignments.
Select the License Pools tab and then click the Add New button at the top of the grid.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Name | Name of the license pool |
Display Name | Name for the license pool that users see when searching in the UI |
Description | Description of the license pool |
Enabled | Select to enable the license pool compiler |
Creation Location | Click the Select a Location link and then select the location from the tree |
Next Compilation Time | Click the field and select the desired compilation date and time from the calendar |

You can change this as needed by clicking the calendar controls and selecting the desired dates, as well as change how often the job runs by changing the interval schedule. |
