In EmpowerID, Business Role and Location Combinations are special objects comprised of a Business Role, such as "Contractor" or "Standard Employee," and a location, such as "All Business Locations" or "Boston." You can use these to facilitate new Person creation by assigning them during the onboarding process. This allows you to assign resources through role-based delegations.

Prerequisites

The Business Role and Location you are combining must exist in EmpowerID. In addition, if the Location is for directory-based assignments, EmpowerID must be connected to an external directory like Connecting to Active Directory and your external directory OUs must be mapped to EmpowerID logical locations.

Create a Business Role and Location combination

  1. On the navbar, expand Role Management and click Business Roles and Locations.

  2. Select the Business Roles tab and search for the Business Role that you want to combine with a location.

  3. Click the Display Name link for the Business Role.

This opens the View One page for the Business Role. View One pages allow you to view details about an object in EmpowerID and manage that object as needed.

  4. On the View One page, expand the Assignable Business Roles and Locations accordion and click the Add button

  5. In the tree that appears, search for and select the desired location.

  6. Click Save.

After EmpowerID commits your change, you should see the Business Role and Location combination in the accordion.
