This troubleshooter tool can be used before adding an Account Store connection to your windows Servers to ensure connectivity and proper access to your proxy account. The tool is included in the EmpowerID installation. The tool allows you to perform basic ping connectivity testing, DCOM firewall and proxy account access testing, and WMI firewall and proxy account access testing. 

To use the Connectivity Tester

  1. In File Explorer, navigate to this folder on the machine hosting your EmpowerID Server:
    C:\Program Files\TheDotNetFactory\EmpowerID\Programs
  2. Locate the EmpowerID.Troubleshooter.exe file, and double-click to open it.



  3. In the EmpowerID Connectivity Tester window that appears, in the ComputerFQN field, enter the fully qualified name of the computer you are planning on adding as a Local Windows User Account Store.
  4. In the UserName field, enter the user name of the proxy account you intend to use for this account store.
  5. In the Password field, enter the vaulted password of the proxy account you intend to use for this account store.
  6. Click the Ping Computer button to verify that you are successfully connected to the computer.



  7. Click the DCOM Connectivity Test button to verify DCOM connectivity.



  8. Click the WMI Connectivity Test button to verify WMI connectivity.
