Configuring DNS Aliases for EmpowerID Servers

If you have multiple EmpowerID servers in your environment, you can configure each with a resolvable DNS alias to allow users with the EmpowerID Management Console installed on their machines to access EmpowerID from outside your firewall. This allows users to connect to whichever Workflow server is online without needing the specific DNS for that server. DNS aliases are set on an EmpowerID Workflow server via the Public DNS property for that server in Configuration Manager.

To configure an EmpowerID server with a DNS Alias

  1. Log in to the EmpowerID Management Console as an administrative user.
  2. From the EmpowerID Management Console, click the EmpowerID logo and select Configuration Manager from the menu.
  3. In Configuration Manager, expand the EmpowerID Servers and Roles node in the application navigation tree and then click EmpowerID Servers.
  4. From the Configuration Manager grid, double-click the EmpowerID Workflow server for which you wish to add the public DNS alias.
  5. In the EmpowerID Server Details screen that appears, enter the DNS alias in the Public Dns field and clickSave.
