Adding People to Set Exclusions

Set Exclusions play an indispensable role in tailoring the composition of your result sets, allowing for the exclusion of certain individuals who would otherwise be included. This guide provides a comprehensive approach to implementing Set Exclusion rules, ensuring that your sets conform to exact specifications.

EmpowerID facilitates the exclusion process via two distinct methods:

  • Bulk Upload: This method is ideal for simultaneously excluding large numbers of individuals. It involves uploading a file containing the logins of those you wish to exclude from your set, offering efficiency when managing large groups.

  • Manual Selection: To add a smaller number of individuals, you can use a multi-select lookup to choose and add specific people to the exclusion rule.

Employing these methods allows you to customize your sets precisely, ensuring they align with your operational requirements.

The Bulk Upload method necessitates the use of a CSV file to add individuals to a Set Exclusion. This file must include a row for each person you wish to exclude, with their respective EmpowerID Login values. The first row of the file should serve as the column header, and it must be labeled as "Login". This organization ensures that the system correctly interprets and processes the data for exclusion.

For example, the CSV file should be formatted as follows:

Login john.doe@example.com jane.smith@example.com jack.johnson

Each subsequent row contains the login value for each individual you intend to exclude from the set.

Expected Results

When an individual is added as a Set exclusion, they are excluded from appearing in any Query-Based Collection that utilizes those Sets. You can review the results on the 'View One' page for any relevant Query-Based Collection after the system has compiled it. The procedure for confirming this is outlined below:

  1. Navigate to the 'View One' page of the Query-Based Collection.

  2. Expand the Resource Explicitly Excluded accordion to ensure that the excluded individuals are not listed.
