c-Assigning Role Definitions

Role definitions are beneficial for managing access to PBAC-enabled applications with multiple app rights. Once you have created role definitions, you can use them to assign users access to the app rights they contain. This article will guide you through assigning role definitions to application users.

Procedure

1. Sign in to Resource Admin:

  • Navigate to the Resource Admin for your organization and authenticate.

  • Ensure you have at least the Application RBAC Owner role.

2. Select the PBAC application with the role definitions you want to assign:

  • Select Applications from the resource type menu and then use the search functionality to find the PBAC application with the role definition you want to assign.

  • Click the Details button for the app record.

    This action directs you to the Overview page for the application.

3. Initiate the Assign the Role Definition workflow:

  • Expand the PBAC Assignments menu item.

  • Select Role Definition Assignments and click Assign Role Definition.

4. Select App Resources (if applicable):

  • If your application has app resources, the first option, “Select App Resources (Optional),” appears. Select the appropriate app resource and click Next to continue.

5. Select Role Definitions:

  • Select each Role Definition you want to assign and then click Next to continue.

6. Select Assignees:

  • Choose one or more assignees. Options include individual people or collections of people such as Management Roles, Business Role and Location Combinations, and groups.

  • Optionally, if you have chosen a collection of users, such as a group or role, you can select Preview RBAC Membership Resultant People to preview all people who will be added to the Role Definition before making the final assignment.

6. Finalize the Assignment:

  • Click Next to continue.

  • When ready, click Submit to complete the assignment.

  • Click Submit again to close the assignment summary message.

 

Expected Results

Upon completing the steps above, you should be able to view records for each assignment in the Role Definitions Assignments grid.
