Role-Based Group Memberships

Using EmpowerID, you can easily assign users to groups dynamically by using role-based delegations. The assignees can belong to any EmpowerID Actor type, including Business Role and Location combinations, Query-Based Collections, Management Roles, and other groups. This article provides a demonstration of this process by creating a dynamic group membership for individuals assigned to a specific Business Role and Location. Consequently, anyone belonging to the specified Business Role and Location is automatically included as a member of the group.

Prerequisites

To ensure EmpowerID maintains group membership, ensure Group Membership Reconciliation is enabled for the account store with the target group(s).

Procedure

  1. On the navbar, expand Role Management and select Manage Delegations.

  2. Select the Resource Delegations tab.

  3. Choose the type of group from the Resource Type dropdown.

  4. Enter the group name you want to create role-based memberships for in the Enter a Group (Group Type) Name to Search field.

  5. Choose the desired actor type from the To Which Type of Actor Do You Wish To Assign Access dropdown. In this example, we select Business Role and Location.

  6. Click the Add New button located on the Grid Header.

     

  7. Search for and select a business role from the Business Role tree, and then search for and select a location from the Location tree.

     

  8. For Access Level, select Member.

     

  9. If you want to limit the duration of the membership access, select Temporary Access and set the access parameters appropriately.

     

  10. Click Save.
