Connect to Live PSM Sessions

EmpowerID allows administrators to engage in live snooping, enabling the connection to and monitoring of live Privileged Session Management (PSM) sessions. This feature allows administrators to observe real-time activity on a machine, enhancing oversight and operational security.

Compliance with GDPR for Live Monitoring

When operating in or dealing with users from jurisdictions under the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), adhere to the following guidelines to ensure compliance:

  • Deactivation of Monitoring Features: In scenarios where compliance cannot be fully guaranteed, it is advisable to disable live monitoring and session recording features to avoid non-compliance with GDPR.

  • User Notification and Consent: If live monitoring and session recording are utilized, it is crucial to inform users explicitly about the monitoring:

    • Notification: Communicate to users that their session will be monitored and recorded.

    • Details of Monitoring: Explain how the monitoring will be executed and what will be recorded.

    • Option to Opt-Out: Ensure users are aware they can opt out of monitoring by choosing not to proceed with the session.

Implementing these measures is essential for protecting user data and complying with GDPR regulations. This not only helps safeguard user privacy but also aligns with legal obligations, ensuring that the organization's monitoring practices are transparent and respectful of user rights.

  1. On the navbar, expand Privileged Access and click Sessions.

  2. Select the Sessions tab and then search for the session to which you want to connect.

  3. Click the Session Details icon for that session.

This opens the Priv Session Details page. If a session is live, you will see a Live Session box with a Connect button, as shown below.

  4. To join a live session, click the Connect button.

You should see a new browser tab labeled “Monitoring - *” open. You can now view what is occurring on the machine in real time.
