Create Global Functions

To develop an effective risk management plan, organizations must first identify routine business operations that users carry out to achieve business objectives. Examples of these tasks include creating purchase orders, modifying group memberships, and editing user attributes. EmpowerID refers to these activities as "Functions," which are business-defined actions performed within one or more applications. Functions are objects created by organizations to represent user activities in IT systems using everyday business terminology. Once these tasks are defined, it is crucial to create corresponding Functions in EmpowerID and map them to the technical system and roles associated with executing these actions.

 

Procedure

  1. On the navbar, expand Compliance and click Risk Management.

  2. Go to the Global Functions tab and then click the Add button.

    This action opens the “Create Global Function” form.

  3. Enter the following information in the form:

Name

Enter a name that represents the task in your business process.

Display Name

Enter a user-friendly display name for the function.

Description

Provide a brief characterization of the function.

Function Type

Select from a list of predefined function types that best categorizes the function.

Risk Level

Choose from options like Low, Medium, High, Critical, Very Critical to indicate the risk level.

Location

Use the "Select a Location" link to search for and select a creation location for the function.

Locale Key (Unique Name)

(Optional) Enter a locale key for creating a localized entry for the function.

Locale Key for Description

(Optional) If creating a localized entry, provide a description for the locale key.

Is Enabled

Toggle to specify whether the function is enabled for processing.

Is Shipping Data

(For internal use only)

Job Schedule Interval

Select the frequency for EmpowerID to compile the function, with the default being once every 24 hours.

  1. Click Save to create the global function.

Results

EmpowerID creates the Global Function.
