Enable Persona Switching

If specific users in your organization have different responsibilities that involve periodically or regularly working in different offices, you can create different person objects with different access levels for those people through "Persona Switching." EmpowerID also supports the concept of a Core identity, so that you can log in with different Person identities that are all linked to the same Core ID. The Core identity is set by the system. If you log in using the Core ID, you can choose which Person to use at login, and also switch between your related Person identities while logged in.

Enable persona switching

  1. Navigate to the View or View One page for the person to whom you want to enable persona switching. EmpowerID provides two main ways to do this. You can navigate to the page by searching for the person using the Global search bar at the top of the page (quickest), or you can navigate to the page by searching for the person using the Find Person page.

  2. On the View or View One page, expand the Roles, Accounts and Login Security accordion and click the Edit link in the Authorized to login as pane.

  3. In the Search field that appears, enter the name of the other person identity who is authorized to log in as this person, and then click the tile for that person identity.

  4. Click the Save link.

Test Persona Switching

After enabling persona switching, you can test it by doing the following:

  1. Log out of the EmpowerID Web application and log back in as a person for whom persona switching is enabled.

You should see login options for all personas linked to the person. The main identity of the person is displayed on the left, with additional identities that the user is authorized to log in with on the right.

  2. Select any of the identities to complete logging in.

  3. After logging in, click the Display Name of the logged in user.
If the person is authorized to log in as another identity, you should see a “Login As” dropdown.

  4. Click the dropdown to view the identities the person is authorized to log in as, and click the desired identity.

You should be seamlessly authenticated as that identity and directed to the landing page configured for your organization.
