Shop for Resources

You access the IAM Shop to request available resources. This requesting action is known as creating or submitting a “Business Request.” Once a Business Request is submitted, EmpowerID routes it for approval based on the Approval Flow policies configured for that request. The following demonstrates a typical IAM Shop user experience.

Please note that you need to be eligible for a resource to shop for it. If you cannot find a specific resource, most likely you are not eligible for it.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the IAM Shop portal for your organization.

  2. In the IAM Shop, select the appropriate resource type from the Resource Type dropdown and search for the specific resource belonging to that type. For example, if you want to request membership in a group with a Logon Name of DTG, you select Groups and then search for DTG.

  3. Click Request Access.

  1. If you see an Activate button instead of the Request Access button, you are preapproved for the requested item. If so, simply click the Activate button to access the requested resource.

  1. Review the information on the modal that opens.

  2. If you wish to request temporary access, toggle Set Duration and set the start and end dates and times as needed.

  3. When ready, click Add to Cart.

  4. When ready to submit your request, click the Cart icon at the top of the page.

  5. In the open cart, select a reason for the request or optionally enter a comment.

  6. Click Evaluate Request. This checks to see if your request could cause a risk violation.

  7. If one or more risk violations are detected, they appear in your cart, as shown in the below example.

You can view more details about a risk by hovering over it. This allows you to see the Risk Type and the granted functions causing the violation.

  8. If risk violations are detected, and you wish to continue, select I acknowledge these violations and wish to request access.

  9. Enter a Business Request Name. This allows you and people who can approve your request know what the request is about. For example, if you are requesting membership in a group, the Business Request Name could be “<Your Name> <Group Name> Membership Request.”

  10. Enter a Due Date and a Comment if needed.

  11. When ready, click Submit to submit your request.

  12. Once successfully submitted, a window appears stating that the cart was successfully submitted with a link to track the status of the request.

Clicking the link directs your browser to the My Requests page of the My Tasks application with the Overview card for the request open. The card allows you to view details about your request and the number of approvals needed for it to be granted.
